Dots Pro Enters 2009 with High Hopes
12-Feb-2009
Dots Pro, a company specialized in digital printing services,
has installed a new HP XL 1500 printing machine. The company,
based in the Jordanian capital (Amman), has also ordered for a
new Mimaki JV5 press to be delivered to the printing press in
February this year.
Speaking to ME Printer about his company’s investments, Dr. Tarek
Khoury, Dots Pro’s General Manager, said, “We’ve opted for a new
HP XL1500, simply because we trust HP ’s machineries. We previously
bought six machines from HP . We are happy with the outcome, and
HP ’s service centre is available around the clock. Above all
that, we came up with a conclusion, based on a market study, that
the XL 1500 has lower operation costs when it comes to printing
heads and inks. This machine is mainly used for billboard printing
and large banners. It operates on an actual speed of up to 100
square meters per hour, thus making it the fastest press available
in the market.”
Commenting
further, Dr. Khoury explained that the company has also invested
in a new Mimaki JV5 press with 162 cm width, which will be delivered
to the company’s premises in February 2009. According to Dr. Khoury,
this machine will be solely used for printing posters and vehicle
wraps. Additionally, the company plans to order a wide format
digital press with 320 cm width, which they expect to be delivered
to the press in late May this year. Though the company hasn’t
yet decided on the brand of the machine, Dr. Khoury hinted that
it could be either a Jeti or an HP press.
“At our premises, we have nine small and medium format presses,
some of which are used for printing vehicle wraps, such as the
HP 9000 press with 162cm width and the HP 10000 press with 262cm
width. Other machines are used in printing display units for exhibitions.
For that we’re using two units of the HP 5500 six colour press
with 152cm width, two units of the HP Z 6100 eight colour press
and a Canon 8000 press with 107cm width, and a Canon 9000 twelve
colour press with 152cm width which we use for printing on canvas
and photo-printing. We also have sublimation presses used for
textile and flag printing such as the Mimaki JV4 press,” commented
Dr. Khoury.
Dots Pro was established in 1996 as an advertising agency and
currently the company has a work force of 49 employees. The company
comprises several specialized printing departments, such as stands,
display units and vehicle wraps. In 2008, the company established
a special workshop for steel and wood so as to be able to meet
its clients’ demands for billboards and large banners. The press’
main customers are advertising agencies in Jordan, through which
the company does high quality indoor printing for telecommunication
companies, such as Zein, Orange & Omnia, real estate companies,
such Damac, Emaar & Tameer, and so on. Dots Pro mainly caters
to the Jordanian market and a slice of Iraq’s market as well.
Additionally, the company has recently started delivering print
jobs for some Arab and European countries.
“The demand on digital printing in Jordan has doubled in 2007
and 2008. As for 2009, we hope to see either a high or a maintained
level of demand. However, the New Year started with a war and
a financial turmoil. Most of the major companies we know in Jordan
have lowered their budgets for 2009. Despite this, the number
of companies in Jordan is increasing and we expect to maintain
the same level of business. Life must go on, you know,” concluded
Dr. Khoury.
